How to winterize your Kayak Pool

Always start with clean water, vacuuming if necessary, then follow the steps below to winterize your Kayak Pool.
  1. Lower Water Level

  • Turn off the pump.
  • Turn the handle of the ball valve to the bottom drain open position.
  • Remove the drain plug from the cartridge filter.
  • Install the drain plug into the return fitting from inside the pool.
  • Attach waste hose to the drain fitting on the filter so that water will drain away from your pool. This is recommended, however, the pool does not come with the waste hose for drainage.
  • Turn on the pump and run until the water level is below the retu

2. Prepare The Pool

  • Remove the in pool ladder by loosening the set screws in the ladder flanges (cups located on the deck).
  • Remove any objects screwed into the pool return (if applicable).
  • Remove the skimmer basket.
  • Install winter plate over skimmer.
  • Clean Vinyl with Vinyl & Tile cleaner.
  3. Prepare The Frog System

  • Unscrew side drain valve to relieve pressure.
  • Remove cap.
  • Unscrew drain valve in back of Cycler allowing all water drain.
  • If the Bac Pac still contains chlorine at winterizing, wrap in a plastic bag and store in a safe place. Keep this and all chemicals away from children, pets and open flame.
Remove the reservoir and discard. Once activated by water, the minerals will hold their purifying power for six months. Do not re-use the reservoir the following season.
  • Replace the cap and drain valves loosely.

4. Add Winterizing Chemicals

**CAUTION:
  • When adding pool chemicals never mix chemicals.
  • If chemicals come in contact with skin, flush with water immediately.
  • Refer to chemical containers for correct application and safety procedures.
  • Do not add chemicals through the skimmer.

  • Add winter chemicals (shock and winter algaecide) according to directions on the containers.
  • Continue to run pool filter for approximately 6-8 hours to thoroughly dissolve all chemicals.

**Note: Do not leave large amounts of chemicals on the pool floor as it may cause damage to your liner.

5. Final Steps

  • Turn off the pump.
  • Drain all water from the pump, filter and Frog.
  • Secure the hose coming from the floor drain to a deck support so that it points upward. The end of the hose must be higher than the water level. Do not cap this line.
  • Disconnect the hose from the ball valve to skimmer and return hose. Allow to hang so that all water drains from the lines.
  • Pools with the dual bottom drains: Do not cap the PVC atmosphere relief tube.
  • Disconnect the ball valve from the pump and store indoors.
  • Install your winter cover.
